Hi, I’m Gary the Little Tree logistics manager. I will be organising the delivery and collection of your Christmas tree. This page is just to give you a little more information on how the delivery and collection service works. If you have any delivery/collection specific queries please feel free to contact me direct at [email protected].
We’re now partnered up with the Ideal Homes Show for their Christmas spectacular, so if you want to hire a Christmas tree in London you can come and choose your tree at Earls Court from the 16th to the 20th November. We’ll then deliver just in time for Christmas as always.
Delivery
As Christmas trees are large, heavy and very awkward to handle they cannot easily be sent through the usual courier systems. This means we try to deliver the majority of the trees using our own dedicated delivery team. This is why we have the post code zone system for delivery days. In order to keep carbon emissions as low as possible and to maximise the number of tree delivery slots per day we have to split the country up into smaller more manageable areas and dedicate a day for each of these. This system also helps to ensure you get a more personal delivery service and that the tree has the best chance of arriving on time and in tip top condition. To see the Christmas tree delivery areas and dates please click here. Please be aware that new dates are being added on an ongoing basis.
Please see below for frequently asked questions which may be relevant to you.
My post code has more than one delivery date? – You are lucky to live in a more densely populated area hence there being more than one dedicated day – feel free to pick the day that suits you best.
My post code is not listed? – There are post code areas where we get very few orders or may be too far from the main delivery areas for us to send one of our delivery team. We can still deliver to you. Place your order and we will contact you via email to arrange a day where our team may be able to get to you. If our team cannot make it to you then we will organise TNT to deliver and collect from you and can organise a day with you.
I cannot have my tree delivered on the day specified? – We would ask that you fit in with our delivery schedule as much as is possible. As mentioned above this is to ensure that carbon emissions are kept to a minimum and to ensure we can personally deliver your tree and ensure it is in great condition when you receive it. If you really cannot have delivery on the specified date then we can organise delivery through TNT. If the delivery is a little early on for you then we would suggest you take delivery on this day and then store the tree somewhere outside – it will enjoy the cold, damp weather our winter brings!
What time will the tree be delivered? – Our drivers will deliver from 7am till 10pm though we may deliver a little earlier or later if needs be. If your delivery is late in the evening we will more than likely leave it in a safe place rather than disturbing you. As we will have a lot of trees and a large area to cover it is very difficult for us to give an eta and therefore will be unable to do so.
We appreciate you will be busy and have work/personal commitments you will need to attend to and would therefore strongly recommend using the safe place option. If you are in then all the better but if not we will leave in your safe place and a note will be left to advise you of this.
Why do I need to have a safe place? – As we have a large number of trees to deliver in a short time frame we cannot give eta’s and therefore there is a chance we could miss each other at the delivery point. If you have a safe place it means we can leave the tree without inconveniencing your day or causing us re-delivery problems. Your safe place can be front/rear gardens, stairwells in flats, neighbours etc – anywhere we can leave the tree for a few hours without it being removed by anyone else or causing an obstruction to the general public. If you live in a secure block of apartments then perhaps you could let us know a neighbour’s flat number who will allow us access to place the tree outside of your front door.I do not have a safe place and cannot be present all day for the specified delivery date? – We realise this may be a problem for those in busy urban areas. We would ask that you specify a more suitable delivery address near by such as family, friends or neighbours where someone will be in or may have a safe place.
Collection
Once you have got your Christmas and New Year celebrations out of the way you will want the Christmas tree to go off on its annual holiday (if only we all got 11 months of the year off!). We will be starting collection from Tues 3rd January. You will be advised by email during the festive period which day your tree will be collected on. If you do not receive an email by 31st December then please contact us asap (please check junk/spam folders in case). We aim to collect all trees within two weeks from above date. If your tree is in your way then feel free to store outside until collection. Where this is not possible then please continue to store and care for your tree until collection day. We recommend that on your collection day or the night before to leave your tree outside of your front door or in your safe place. This speeds up the collection process allowing us to get more done in a day. It also means you do not need to worry about being in for the collection. You must remove all decorations being very careful not to leave any as small bits left on the tree can be very harmful to wildlife once your tree is back outside. The rental agreement booklet needs to be fastened back to the top of the tree; we also strongly recommend that if your tree is left out the front of your house you label the tree for collection by The Little Tree Company and not for disposal – some eager council collectors may mistake it for composting! If you would like the tree reserving for next year then please ensure the correct page within the rental agreement booklet is signed and attached to the tree.
My team and I look forward to seeing you all soon and would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Many thanks from Gary and the logistics team.
