Tea Plant – Chamellia Sinensis
Grow your own tea with your own camellia sinensis plant.
These are strong 2-3 year camellia sinensis (assamica) saplings measuring between 30 and 40cm long. Tea plants grow well in a pot on a shaded part of the patio throughout the summer and over winter well in a cool room in the house. With beautiful glossy leaves and perfumed white flowers this evergreen makes a beautiful and useful addition to any plant collection. With time and patience your tea plants will produce your own supply of the Worlds most popular drink bar water - a nice cup of tea! Tea Plant Care: Stand in a shaded spot in the garden throughout the summer, providing protection from frost during winter months. When repotting use an acidic ericaceous compost mix. Never allow your tea plants to dry out but reduce water in the Autumn and Winter, as with all plants rainwater is preferred if available. You can feed your tea plants sparingly with a general purpose feed every few weeks, or even better use a specialist camellia feed as directed on the bottle.
